The River Slope Mine had ben quarried without the required benefit of surface boreholes to determine the thickness of the rock cover and without proper surveying.Federal, State and Country authorities orderedall the digging in the particuler vein to stop.Nevertheless Knox administration instructed mineworkers to keep digging.
