UN Report in 2010 of Hunger around the world In 2010, according to the UN food and agriculture organization, they estimated that 925 million people were unnourished and hungry. Asia and The Pacific had roughly 578 million hungry people, while Africa had 239 million people. As you can see Asia and Africa are the two most severe continents dealing with hunger. Asia has more mainly because the population is much larger than Africa. The leading cause of world hunger Poverty is the main cause of world hunger, because people aren't receiving enough money to buy a sufficient amount of food. In 2008, 47% of of the population of sub-Saharan Africa lived on $1.25 a day or less, which caused hunger because they couldn't buy enough food for them and their family. From 1950 to 2009, Africa's population grew rapidly from 221 million, to 1 billion, which made jobs harder to get because most of the jobs were already taken. One in nine people on our planet go to bed hungry each night. Poor nutrition causes nearly half(45%) of deaths of children under 5, which is about 3.1 million children a year. Asia and Africa suffer most from hunger. World Hunger is a problem worldwide, and the issue is getting worse and worse. Asia and Africa have the most severe hunger issues, including many people dying from starvation. The main reason of world hunger is poverty. world hunger.orgwfp.orgstophungernow.org
