Most people average the same number of daily text sent/received as they do voice calls. As for Millennials, their average texts surpasses voice calls. Generation @ children do the mosttexting with 109 sent/received on average daily. FACEBOOK Initially started to help high school and college students stay connected to their peers, Facebook has grown to 1.39 billion monthly active users. Social Networking today has grown among users of all ages. Keeping connected with family being a primary reason among older users and friends for younger users. Silent Generation: 46% Baby Boomers: 65% Generation X: 78% Millennials: 90% News Flash: The variety of technology devices available to consumers has increased, but it doesn't mean that everyone is buying. How Do You Get Your News? In s 2010 survey, PEW Research Center found 63% of Silent Generation adults compared to 16% of Baby Boomers and 4% of adults under 35 don't own any technology devices. Today's generation ranks highest in ownership of cell phones, laptops, and tablets. Desktops are most popular among Generation Xers and Baby Boomers Tablets are more popular among Older Baby Boomers and Silent Generation adults than Smartphones. Millennials Silent Generation Baby Boomers Generation X Millennials Silent Generation Baby Boomers Generation X Paper and Television Internet Based on traditional practices and devices owned, paper and television remain the primary news access point in older generations. The opposite is true for internet as more Millennials have quick access to technology. Millennials and Generation @ also search out their news, but social media plays a larger role in how they seek out new over using printed resources. How people find their news also varies. Adults of the Generation X and Baby Boomer Years are evenly split between searching their news or using a printed news source (i.e. newspaper or magazine.) Technology on the Go 66% of adults 18 and older admit to talking on their phones while driving. 34% admit to texting on the go. 52% of teen age 16 and 17 admit to talking on their phones while driving. 34% admit to texting on the go.
