MLK desegregated buses & was influential in the desegregation of all public facilities as well as earning blacks equal opportunities to vote. Malcolm X Real name was Malcolm littlebig family, exposed to povertyand violence and his parentswere distraught. spent a lotof time in jail. He had little to no education because he spent more time injail & on the streets than inschool. he converted to Islam while inprison, supported violence, and unlike MLK, he expressed hishate for whites He believed that white peoplewere evil, and wanted blacksto posses more rights than whites. "be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if a man lays his hand on you, sendhim to the cemetery. people responded strongly in many different ways to him because he represented an era of great struggle in America.
