In a smallbowl, mix 2¼ cups ofall-purpose flour, 1teaspoon of bakingsoda, and 1 teaspoonof salt. After combined, set the bowl aside. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup or 2 sticks of softened unsalted butter, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 3/4cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until the mixture is creamy. Tip #1: If your butter is not softened,do not worry. Just cut it into small cubesand let it sit for a couple of minutes oryou can put the butter into a ziplockbag and put it into a bowl of warm water(hot water will melt the butter). Into the creamed mixture, add 2 room- temperature eggs, one at a time. Once one egg is totally combined, add the next egg. Tip #2: If you forget to take out the eggs beforehand, again, do not panic. Submerge the egg intoa bowl of warm water for about 5 to 10 minutesand it will be at room temperature. Make sure thewater is warm instead of hot; otherwise, the eggswill start to cook. On anungreased baking pan, scoop the dough usinga cookie scooper ordropping a tablespoonof rounded dough about2 inches apart. Stir in 2 cups of chocolate chips into the dough. If wanted, also mix in 1 cup of chopped nuts. Into the same large bowl with thecreamed mixture, gradually combinethe flour mixture. Placethe baking pan(s) intothe preheated oven.Let the cookies bakefor about 9 to 11minutes or untilgolden brown. Once the cookies come out of the oven, cool them for 2 minutes on the pan beforetransferring onto a wire cooling rack. Tip #3: When handling the dough makesure to not hold the dough in your handsfor too long to ensure the butter does notmelt.
