Leonardo da Vinci had plans to make a robot. Now this raises a question if electricity wasnt discovered, then what was he planning to use to power his creation that was far ahead his time? In 200 years (from 1700 to 1900) there were many life-sized automatons made including the famous robotic duck. This early creation was made by Jacques de Vaucanson. It can crane its neck and flap its wings. IT CAN EVEN SWALLOW FOOD!!!! This was made in 1739. This robot was still invented before electricity was discovered. The test was created in the 1950s. In 1994 Carnegie University made a six legged robot (its name was Dante II) that successfully Mt. Spurr to collect volcanic samples such as gases and small rocks. Mt. Spurr is at an elevation of 3,374 meters above sea level. It was named after Josiah Edward Spurr which was the person that led the investigation in 1898. It is located in the Alaska Range in the Tordrillo Mountains. In 1957 the first artificially (man-made) satellite was made by The Soviet Union (Russia). The creation of Sputnik signaled the beginning of the space. The space race was when most if not all of the countries raced each other to the moon.
