Diabetes is a condition in which the body does not properly use or create insulin, which is a hormone that create cells to take in glucose to use as energy. Symptoms: Urinating often Feeling very thirsty Feeling very hungry Blurry vision Extreme fatigue Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal Tingling, pain or numbnessin the hands/feet Diabetes type 2 If you have type 2 diabetes, then your body does produce enough insulin, but it is improperly used.The pancreas will attempt to make more insulin to counter this, but eventually it cannot produce enough to keep with glucose levels. Risk factors: Overweight Sedentary lifestyle Hipertension Parents with diabetes Treatments and care If you have type 2 diabetes, you must keep yourself on a carefuldiet and good amounts of exercise.There's no actual "cure" for diabetes,but there are ways to keep it controlledand not affecting the life too much. Professionals that could be of assistancefor a diabetic: Nutritionist: he'll help the person to set upa meal plan, teach how to count carbohydrates,how to count portion size and give a sense thatyou are not dealing with this alone. Certified diabetic educator: educates and supports people affected by diabetes to understand and manage the condition. Psychologist: provides direct services to the patient via promotion of health behaviors and treatment of psychological problems, and also provides consultation to the medical team on how to incorporate psychological principles into patient care to enhance clinical outcomes. After being diagnosed with diabetes, the patient should begin the treatmentimmediately, consisting of physical activity, healthy diet, medication and/orinsulin use and monitoring glucose levels in the blood.
