NightBy Elie Wiesel NightBy Elie Wiesel The non-fiction book Night by Elie Wiesel gives informationabout a tragic event in history. A young boy named Eliezer and his family are taken to multiple Concentration Camps. He is separated from his mother and sisters and left with only his father. They both have to endure life-threatening experiences. Eliezer is given an event in his life he neverforgets. "Since my father's death, nothing mattered to me anymore" page 131. I chose this quote because getting over the loss of a loved oneis hard, and in Eliezer's case he thought he wouldn't make it without his father. "Water! There was water close by...but it was forbidden to break rank" page 34. "My father suddenly had a colic attack. He got up and asked...'Excuse me...Could you tell me where the toilets are...'" page 57. "...the evening meal: bread and margarine. I was terribly hungry and swallowed my ration on the spot" page 62. "...an old man fell to the ground. Nearby,an SS man replaced his revolver in its holder" page 48. "I no longer felt anything exceptthe lashes of the whip" page 75. "A truck drew close and unloaded its hold: small children. Babies!...children thrown into the flames" page 50. Facts in the book:Jews were forced to jog by Hungarian police officers to get to the ghetto (page 37-38).A gypsy slapped Elie's father just for asking where the restroom was (page 57).The dentist of one of the camps used people's gold teeth for his own purposes (page 70).Three hanged people had their corpses put in the soup that the people ate (page 83).The Jews stayed in Gleiwitz for three days without food or water, trapped in their barracks (page 113).
