Washington was raised in the south as a slave and was freed as well as educated after the Civil War. His Knowledge led to him becoming one of the most influential figures of his time. W.E.B Dubois grew up in the north as a free man and so was unfamiliar with the labor and hard emotional results caused by slavery. However, he was used to being treated commonly like the rest to a certain degree and loathed those who supported the unfair slave ownership. EDUCATION NORTH JUSTICE Booker T. Washington led thePhilosophical group that leaned towards social action that he foretold was the best way for Negroes to succeed. Washington believed that through hard work Negroes could accomplish learning necessary lessons that would help them rise to the top. He was not fond of the idea that many should start from the top due to his belief that it would cause a great loss of wisdom between the bottom of the scale to the top. Booker T. Washington grew up in the south,leading to his understanding of what many former slaves were interested in and how people were treated in the south. This knowledge helped him appeal to southern people and their wishes. Washington was convinced that to win over the white's trust and understanding, Negroes would have to strive to ignore the discrimination temporarily. POLITICAL W.E.B Dubois was leader of the philosophical group that inclined its perspective toward politically involved ways of better lifestyles for blacks. W.E.B thought that education held the key to success and was greatly intrigued by the idea of Negroes helping influence the nation through political participation. His way of thinking led to the idea of the "Talented Tenth" which he proposed as the necessary element for the negro race to accomplish great things. W.E.B had close relations to the north because he grew up there and so was familiar with the point of views many held on different relevant topics. As a result, his ideas and core thoughts originated based off what he collected from people living close to him, making him a great candidate for north support. Washington are both widely known as the leaders of philosophical groups that were dedicated to presenting their idea of how Negroes should act in there newfree position as citizens of the United States. SOCIAL W.E.B found that he would not tolerate the segregation and discrimination that poisoned the nation. Instead he strived to earn the approval of others in his movement for justice.
