Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Basically the only characters that were even in this book was John Steinbeck as himself, but Trying not to be recognized so he changeshis name. His gentle and smart dog Charley tags alongas well. Steinbeck feels as if He doesn't know own country and thepeople in it yet he writes about it This book was a lot of little interesting stories about Steinbeck's journey across America. It's all about people that he meets and how nice or rude they are, although most were nice. There was a lot about funny things that Charley did. They visited almost every state in an attempt to learn about the people withinthem. Steinbeck was lost almost the whole time. I would give this book a 2.5. because although I do really enjoy Steinbeck's use of languageIt was just not eventful enough for me, I think it will be better for me in like 10-15 years, but right now it was just not my cup of tea, but Steinbeck is a really great writer! John Steinbeck I saw two themes in this book, the first is that getting away from home should not be your end goal, it should be more of a temporary distraction so be happy with your situation.the second observation I had was he spent the whole trip lost, he couldn't even find his way back to his home so this probably means that you lose a part of yourself when you are so focused on what other people are doing and how they are living their lives.
