During the Tang Dynasty the Chinese developed advancement in shipbuilding techniques. Warships were becoming more popular during this dynasty, over 800 people could fit in one boat! Scholars believe that woodblock printing was discovered in 600 AD.They also thought that woodblock printing was inspired by the use of the old use of bronze or stone seals. Song Dynasty 960-1279 AD Moveable type printing became very popular in China. Soon after it spread to Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Europe. Paper currency was made specially for merchants because merchants didn't want to carry thousands of strings of coins for a long distance. During the Song Dynasty, people fixed the compass to make it better. It was reduced in size and was attached to a fixed stem (instead of the needle floating in water). The Tang and Song dynastys both made many advancements in our everyday life, but I think the Tang dynasty made more important advancements. The Tang dynasty helped farmers by giving them more land. Because of this farmers were able to grow more crops to feed their families. Also, they made waterways which made it easier to travel. This increased trade with other parts of Asia. Poetry was also very big during this time. Chinese poets would express themselves through poems, a popular poet was named Du Fu. The Tang dynasty was viewed as the great age of poetry in China. In conclusion, the Tang dynasty made many great achievements that would help us in our everyday life.
