For example, a blood clot can form in an artery to the brain, kind of like a heart attack, but instead of blocking the nourishing coronary blood to the heart, it blocks nourishing blood to the brain.-In a hemorrhagic stroke, bleeding occurs in the brain. It swells and puts pressure on brain tissue, which damages it. Also, clots form, making it even worse. Preventing Strokes: - Know its signs, such as: Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding. Sudden trouble seeing. Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, and loss balance or coordination. Sudden severe unknown headaches.- Managing health, such as exercising, not smoking, eating healthy, etc.-For ischemic strokes, tissue plasminogen activator, to dissolve clots.-For hemorrhagic, surgery to fix ruptured vessels or a stent.
