Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Infographic on Forest Management and Rice Production (Mt.Makiling) First, we have the cactus. It is a succulent, meaning they have thicker fleshy parts to adapt to water. In the absence of their leaves, enlarged stems carry out photosynthesis. Second we have the wheat plant. This plant is a cereal grain. This grain is a adapts to photosynthesis through its leaves and it is massed produced. Lastly we have the okra plant. This plant is in the mallow family. This plant also adapts photosynthesis through its leaves however they are fragile. The first type of fertilizer is the fungus fertilizer. This type of fertilizer uses the fungi which breaks down phosphorus compounds into plant available forms in exchange for sugar. The second type of fertilizer is organic fertilizer. This fertilizer is a soil amendment that comes from natural resources that guarantees a minimum percentage of potash, phosphate and nitrogen. The biggest threat the tropical rain forest has is unsustainable forestry practices. Other threats include road construction, clearing land for agriculture and other development activities and climate change. The biggest threat for the Temperature Deciduous Forest is acid rain caused but industrial and vehicular emissions. Over time, acid rain damages tree leaves p, causes trees to produce fewer and smaller seeds and reduces the resistance to disease. Monoculture, this approach to farming is fairly simple in nature, focusing all its needs and preference on one single crop species. Farmers just need to prepare the soil, and irrigate the land based on one crop. However monoculture does not support other flora and fauna. According to its definition, other plants should not be planted. Slash And Burn. The pro of this style is that it returns nutrients to the soil. The offcuts of the crop are"recycled" on-site, no removal off the site so the decomposition can occur on-site also. It also cheaper to burn debris on-site than mulch or remove the debris off-site. The cons of this is that it is still a fire hazard is burnt. Site preparation may be longer, therefore leaving the soil bare for longer periods of time which may lead to erosion or leaching of nutrients. Crop Rotation. Certain insects and pests feed on different types of crops. By rotating crops, a person removes the food resource preferred by one pest. Therefore, that particular pest eventually dies. Rotating crops often requires more time in preparing fields for crops ahead of rotations. This point is especially true when rotating 2 years instead of every 3-4 years. Also, the fungi and pests left by the previous crop can affec the new crop. 3 types of plants 2008 2005 2001 2002 Some fertilizer can lead to potassium deficiency. This deficiency can lead to abnormalities in plants, usually the symptoms are growth related. Some of these symptoms are chlorosis which is the scorching of plant leaves, with yellowing of the margins of the leaf. It also leads to defoliation which when left unattended would lead the plants to lose their leaves faster than they should. Eventually the plant won't be able to photosynthesize and die. Tropical Rainforest. This type of rainforest has a climate of 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Trees in this type of forest grow to about 82 to 115 feet tall and typically broad-leafed trees. Other plants include ferns, vines, mosses, palms and orchids. Next we have the Temperature Deciduous Forest. It has 4 seasons, and in 3 of the 4 it rains while in the winter it snows. It has very fertile soil, maple oak and birch trees dominate the forest. The characteristics of rice in our climate here in the ph is that it should be able to grow at a tropical climate and that it is able to withstand periods of hard rain. It should also have resistance or tolerance to major diseases, insects and other harmful stresses. Based on our overall trip, I think our over exploitation of our forest around the Philippines affects the rate of photosynthesis and nutrient cycle because, the more trees we decide to cut down and the more forests we clear out the less plants we have to photosynthesize and take in the carbon dioxide we exhale to create oxygen for us to breathe in. Also it is not easy to grow trees. It takes at least 4-5 years to plant have a fully grown one. If this keeps up we will most likely run out of resources and since we are overpopulated we will go through our resources faster New rice technologies, such as agronomic, postharvest, and processing innovations, have a strong demand in Southeast and East Asia. Irri has collaborated with governments and partner organizations in the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, in line with each countrys national priorities.
