So led by Sam Adams and the sons of Liberty, dumped tea into the Boston harbor. This was a protest to stop the taxes imposed by the British. Boston tea party First Continental Congress In September of the next year after the Boston Tea party, Delegates from 12 of the colonies meet what should they do to stop the British taxes. In the end of the debate, the delegates decided to boycott any British goods. Lexington and Concord In 1775, the British were hearing talks of revolution. They also found out that the colonists in Boston had weapons. So they marched to the town of Lexington and Concord. When the British came, the colonists has minutemen ready to fight. When British were there, the men got ready. Out of nowhere, a shot was fired. So this started the Battles. Olive Branch Petition In the Second Continental Congress, a peace effort was made. In the Olive Branch Petition, the delegates were asking for peace and for the King to repeal the acts on Massuchusetts. But the King was angry at this . Battle of Bunker hill The Battle of Bunker hill was the first major Battle of the revolution. It happened near Boston. In the battle, many British and Patriots were Injured. This showed though, that the Americans could stand to the British. Declaration of Independence On July 4 of 1776, delegates met again in Philadelphia. After Thomas Jefferson and his group made the Declaration all the Delegates signed the Document. This means that the Americans wanted to be Independent.
