African Americans decided to move north The Jazz age was when African Americans moved to big cities and introduced them to a new style of music called JAZZ! Americans son had a thing for jazz. Young women"flappers" flocked to night clubs to dance to the beat! Flappers shocked the society by cutting their hair short, wearing shorter skirts and wearing makeup. The U.S. Let a certain number immigrants and where they could come from. In 1924 Presidant Calvin Coolidge signed the immigration act of 1924. It limited the number of southern and eastern immigrants European immigrants coming to the U.S.. Only 2% of the total U.S. Population of residents from those countries would be allowed to move here. Amelia Earhart was the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Amelia also attempted to become the first women to circumnavigate the world, but her plane disappeared somewhere near Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean and was never heard from again This is when the 19th amendment was passed to let women have the right to vote!! The achievements were getting places faster. And people can now live in the suburbs because of cars and can get to their jobs in the cities quicker. They could also get places over seas faster. The Harlem Renaissance was a rebirth and blossoming of African Americans literature,art and music . Two artists from this time period were Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston Harlem Renaissance
