Mammoth Cave Gypsum flowers form from minerals in the cave. Gypsum flowers grow in cracks from the rocks, and a force from the rocks push out hydrocarbon droplets. The flow rates of the droplets change so this is what makes the curves on this formation. One specific organism in my cave is there eyeless cave fish. The eyeless cave fish have adjusted environment of low energy and lightness by not growing eyes and changing the pigments in their skin. A good way to travel... To get from Philadelphia to Mammoth Cave you can take Republic Airlines, Chautauqua Airlines, or Air Wisconsin. Once you get to Kentucky National Park, there is a ferry to take you to Mammoth Cave. How Mammoth Cave Came to be This Way Over 10 million years ago groundwater spread through the cracks in the soil and reached limestone under the earth. Over time the limestone was dissolved from the water, and made wider and wider passages and shafts. Things to Do Although these are ranger-led tours there are so many things to do in the park like biking, kayaking, horse back riding, camping, and so much more! tap and hold to changethis text!
