You either think it is true or false. Video game violence is when violent acts in real life are "caused" by the violent video games. People who believe this say violent video games influence these people (mostly teens) to commit these violent acts. Video games do not influence violent behavior because violent acts preformed by teens has gone down since video games have grown in popularity, they can help you learn, and they are a good source of getting out your anger peacefully. Violence has gone down since video games have grown in popularity "If media violence is a precursor to societal violence the introduction of violent video games in the United States would be expected to precipitate increased youth violence rates."- Ferguson Yet multiple studies show that the crime rate has gone down instead of up. The FBI reported violent crime rate has fallen 70 percent over the past 20 years. Other studies say violent Juvenile crime in the US has been declining as violent video game popularity has increased. It has fallen 71.9% between 1995 and 2008. The arrest rate has declined by 49.3%. Even a 2004 US Secret Service review showed there is no relationship between video games and real violence. Another study states "In 2005, the US had 2,279 murders committed by teenage (27.9 per million residents) compared to 73 in Japan (3.1 per million). Per capita video game sales were $5.20 in the US compared to $47 in Japan. This example illustrates that there is no correlation between violent behavior and playing video games." All of these studies are just a couple of the many examples on how violence is not increased by video games.t 90% of children in the US play video games, 90% of those games have mature content.
