Britain becomes very angry with the colonist(because of the Boston Tea Party),so they enforced four cruel laws, called the Intolerable Acts. Delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies (not Georgia),came together and agreed to boycott all British goods and stop exporting goods until the Intolerable Acts where ended. Colonists, or "minutemen", were storing goods and weapons in Concord, Massachusetts and the British troops found out about it. They planned a surprise attack to steal everything, but the minutemen found out and stopped them which started a war. A petition sent to King George III from theSecond Continental Congress declaring their loyalty and askinghim to withdraw the Intolerable Acts. It was the first major battle of the RevolutionaryWar and it proved that the Americans could fight bravely and that theBritish would be hard to defeat. Pamphlet written by Thomas Paine that told colonists that it was time to make the break from Britain and why. Letter made up of three parts that stated that America shouldbe free and why. It was approved by congress.
