(P. 205) Elli and her mom were forcedto go to the labor camp, Auschwitz,where they were starved and required to work, even when they were hurt. Bubi, Elli's brother were one of the main reasons they kept going. Elli is the main character in this book, she endures hard times and has topresevere to survive. Augsburg is the labor camp that gave Elli and her momhope. They actually treated the Jews with some respect. They also fed them well, at least in the beginning. Nagymagyar ghetto is the first place that Elliand her family weremoved to after theyhad to leave their house. In the midst of transportation the Jews on the train were liberated . The American planes killed all the Germanguards and the Jews were freed! After the war Elli, her mom, and Bubi all moved to freedomand were so overwhelmed when they saw the Statue of Liberty.
