Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Roman Sports (entertainment) The gladiator & The horse chariot racing! This was a stadium before in the roman times (this used to be where the horse chariot racing was taken. The action was inthe middle and people watched from the sides. There are many similar stadiums like this today. BEFORE ... AFTER BEFORE ... AFTER This is now a foot ball stadium in rome today. It is very similar to the ones before. The seats and action is in the same place/position. As you can see that it is very close to the stadium on the left. This is how the stadiums of rome have shaped our stadiums today. The gladiator battle and entertainment The gladiators was one of Rome's best achievements that they have every succeeded in as a public entertainment, it was called the "Colosseum" It was a free entrance, so many people went to watch each time. Very rarely though, some violent animals will go and fight the two gladiators as they fight, the audience loved this kind of attraction when there is this kind of intense during the battle. The gladiators originally came from war prisoners, they are then turned in to slaves and work for the romans (the slaves did cleaning, house caring, construction, messaging and much more to name, this is why the romans have so much power because they have so many people to work for them). To become a gladiator to fight in the arena, you have to be a strong and courageous personto become a gladiator. After a long training in the training grounds, many of the gladiators will go and fight in front of many other people including the emperor (example: Caesar was one of the emperor that also watched the gladiators fight). The gladiators fought with armour made out of real silver, but only Caesar did that. The gladiators were trained in special facilities called games, when they were trainedthey would be brought to the stage and fight. The gladiators had a 95% chance of surviving in the battle, because if you really do kill another gladiator, you have to find some kind of replacement for the person that you have killed, the thing is that the gladiators did not always fight to the death, this is one reason why the romans have so many gladiators to fight in the arena. The audience loved to watch animals attack people, sometimes the prisoners were in the middle of the arena and the animals will attack the unarmed prisoners, there were about 15 prisoners against about 5 animals, the animals are normally lion or tigers. There are times when prisoners come on to stage unarmed and they will fight about 10-15 animals against about 10 prisoners at a time, but sometimes the animals will not attack even when they are hungry, this isbecause the audience always makes lots of noise and the animals are afraid of attacking, so they will just not attack and goes away. When this happens, the crowd will all go Boo!”, this obviously makes the emperor very disappointed, so he orders the guards to bring in the beast master who is the animal trainer and he will be killed in front of the emperor and the audience (he is killed because he has not done his job well and the emperor is not happy so he is killed). The emperor that has created the colosseum for the gladiator battles was called TITUS and the colosseum was then passed on to many other emperors including "Ceasar". The gladiators wore very little armour, they only had a protection on there head and there legs and sometimes their arm, their AROMOURY was: Helmet - Shield - Shoulder protection (normally one per person) - leg protection ect... WEAPONRY: Sword - Ax - Net - Trident - dagger - spear - wipe - hammer ect...
