Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 How to be protected from Tyranny State Representation Separation of Powers Checks and Balances Federalism prevents the national government and the state government from getting to much power leading to tyranny. With Federalism, national and state governments will check each other's powers to make sure one government does not have to much more power over the other. The state government has the power over local issues such as education or marriage within the state. This because the state government is more in touch with the local culture. The central government deals with larger scale issues not specific to certain states. Federalism Checks and balances prevents one branch from overpowering another. Which prevents tyranny because one branch can not take control. Checks and balances allow each branch to check or limit the powers of another. For example, the legislative branch can check the executive branch by impeaching the president. Another example is the Judicial branch can check the executive branch by declaring presidential acts unconstitutional. Equal will prevent tyranny because it will not allow bigger states to have more representatives therefore more power over smaller states. When a state has more representatives more of there opinion will impact the outcome. Since bigger states with a larger population will have more power than smaller states this could lead to tyranny Equal Representation in the senate will prevent tyranny by not allowing larger states with a bigger population to have to much power over small states with a smaller population. If representation in the senate was based on population bigger states would have more representatives in the Senate which means they would have more power because more of their opinion would affect the final outcome. This would lead to bigger states having to much power, therefore tyrannny. Separation of Powers prevents tyranny by preventing a person or group from doing what ever they want. Separation of powers allows each branch to have specific powers so they will not be able to have to much power. The specific role of the judicial branch is to interpret laws. The primary role of the legislative branch is to make laws. The main role of the executive branch is to enforce laws. When given specific roles, tyranny is prevented Equal representation in the Senate would prevent tyranny be not allowing bigger states with a larger population over power smaller states with a smaller population.
