The notes are C,D,E,F,G,A, and B. When playing piano, we always start with C because it is the center nite on the piano, also referred to as middle C. C is the white note before the two black keys.2.)The Fingering: When playing scales the fingering is very important. Fingering is what fingers you use to play each key to make it as easy as possible. Also, each finger is assigned a number so that it is easier to identify. Your thumb is number 1, and your pinky is number 5. So, starting with the right hand, place your 1st finger on C. Then place your 2nd finger on D and your 3rd finger on E. This is where it gets tricky.3.) Crossing Under:Do not place your 4th finger on F because then you can not end on C with your pinky. So instead of placing your 4th finger on F, you are going to cross your thumb under to the F. Then place your 2nd finger on G, 3rd on A, 4th on B, and finally your 5th on C. 4.) Coming Back:Coming back has different fingering then going forward. When you come back, you are going to keep the same fingering except when you reach F you are going to cross your 3rd finger over and play E. Then play D with your 2nd finger and end with your 1st finger on C. 5.) How to Play with your Left Hand:Playing a C scale with your left hand is a lot simpler than one might think. When you play with your left hand, it is the same as your right except the opposite. What I mean by that is that you are going to start with your 5th finger on C, then when you reach E, you are going to cross your 3rd finger over to play F. On the way back, you are going to do the same as you did when going forward with your right hand. So you are going to start with your 1st finger on C, and when you reach A, you are going to cross your thumb under to play G then finish the scale normally. .6.) Practice hands alone until you feel comfortable enough to play hands together: Practice this scale hands alone until you feel comfortable enough to play hands together. Once you master playing a C scale, you can begin to learn the other scales and how to play more than one octave. For know though, just focus on the C scale.
