The U.S.D.J(United States Department of Justice) estimated that there are 1.6 millionhomeless or runaway children/teens in you guessed it, the U.S. The amount of homeless children/teens are almost equal when it comes to male and female.But a third are black, and half are LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, or transgender). LGBT children/teens are at a higher rate ofhomelessness because they get rejected by thesociety, school, and even their own families. Homeless students dont tell anybody that they are homeless because theyre embarrassed. This is a problem, because nobody can help them. Boston, Massachusettsreported that they had 3 times the number of youthpeople in their homeless sheltersthan theyhad last year. 3 subpopulations of the youth homeless are:Low risk which are typically youngerthan the other groups. They have the least amount of time being classified as a homeless person.Transient This group is pretty much the same as low risk except everything has escalated a little more. High risk which has the same problems once again escalated, but these people can experience drug abuse.
