Hemochromatosis This occurs when the body takes in too much iron.It is also called 'excess iron' or 'iron overload'. Hemochromatosis is rare. In the USA, there are only about 20-200thousand cases per year. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, abnormal heart rhythm or enlarged heart, fatigue, reduced hormone production, lethargy, darkening of the skin, organ dysfunction, cirrhosis of liver, diabetes, or arthritis. 1. 2. 3.
