Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Gerard Manley Hopkins Hopkins lived from 1844-1889 He lived aroundthe Victorian Era.He was also known to be one of the best poets of his time. Gerard Manley Hopkins was a man of religion. With being a priest and a poet did not sync together for him. So therefore Hopkins destroyed any and all writings he had up to that point and didn't write until he would be asked to by his superiors. Hopkins had written a poem in his time called "Peace". In this he speaks of what is and what he hopes to come. He presses on to write about how the peace we find todayis nothing compared to what He (God) will bring us one day. He tells how the small Peace we find ourselves receiving today is minor. One day he goes on to say, there will be no fighting, no wars, but equality all around. no more unnecessary deaths but atlast Peace. When will you ever, Peace, wild wooddove, shy wings shut,Your round me roaming end, and under be my boughs?When, when, Peace, will you, Peace? Ill not play hypocriteTo own my heart: I yield you do come sometimes; butThat piecemeal peace is poor peace. What pure peace allowsAlarms of wars, the daunting wars, the death of it?O surely, reaving Peace, my Lord should leave in lieuSome good!
