People often throw out aluminum instead of recycling it. Garbage is thrown into landfills in different areas. Aluminum in those landfills can slowly travel underground and get to oceans or other habitats and kill living species. Why is aluminum hazardoes? If you do use aluminum a lot in your everyday life, please make sure to recycle it so we can keep our planet clean! Fun Facts: If you recycle aluminum, it can be back on the shelf in 60 days! -In 2009, over 23 billion aluminum cans were put into landfills. -3% of the world's electricity goes into making just aluminum cans. -In 2005, 95 million tons of greenhouse gases were produced from the aluminum industry. -In 2012, 1.9 million tons of aluminum was produced for packaging food.
