Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Data Visualization Example Transport for London is the governmental company responsible for managing transport services in London. London Underground has 11 lines covering 402km and serving 270 stations. The Tube handles up to 4 million passenger journeys per day. At peak times there are more than 535 trains whizzing around the Capital. TFL relies on data to ensure an efficient transport service to passengers. There are more and more customers complaining on long queues and delays in the tube. They are wastingtime and money. TFL Problem Data Visualization Solution This animation shows the touch-ins and touch-outs of Oyster cards at London's train stations. It moves forwards in 10-minutes intervals during a typical weekday. The balance between passengers getting in and out is shown by a colour scale: red indicates high touch-ins whereas green indicates high touch-outs.With this geospatial visualization based on its big data, TFL can:-Visualize in real time touch-ins and touch-outs-Estimate the flows of passengers in London' different areas-Identify blockings on the tube network-Adapt the number of trains needed regarding the flows of passengers-Adjust the number of agents to assist passengers at peak times in busy stations Results for TFL: less queues, less delays and a more efficient transport service!
