The reason that Martin was standing up for was that all the blacksaround the United States should have the samerights as other people. The whites were angry and they tried to send messages to king that they didn't like what he was doing. The messages were blowing up Martin Luther Kings's apartment and bombing his brothers house as well. The last message the white tried to send Martin Luther king and the Civil Rights movement was the bombing of a local church. This picture is when Martin Luther King gave his famous speech the "I Have a Dream" speech This picture is a picture of Martin Luther king's brothers that was recently bombed The Church Bombing The Church Bombing When the Klu Klux Klanother White Organizations werent happy they took matters intotheir own hands, onSeptember 15,1963 Sunday school was about to start and 4 girls were getting ready to come down then a bomb exploded in the church killing the 4 girls and injuring others. This would be known as The Bombing at the 16th Street Baptist Church The Aftermath This was the Aftermath when the bomb went off in the church Due to the deaths of these 4 African American girls it sparked violent Protests. The angry African Americans attacked white businesses. The bombs that blew up in the church were from4 white men. It took 14 years to find the men responsible because the Birmingham police weren't considering the offence a crime becausethe men were white. In 2002 the jury convicted the 3 white men of blowing up the church because the other man that was apart of the bombing died, and the 3 men were sentenced to life in prison. Words to Know Civil Right Leader- a leader of the political movement dedicated to securing equal opportunity for members of minority groups Klu Klux Klan- A secret society organized in the South after the Civil War to reassert white supremacy by means of terrorism.
