An example of this is how the Executive branch checks the Legislative branch, this happens when the president vetos a congressional legislation. A separation of powers allows powers to be distributed throughout the three branches. One is example of this is how the judicial power of the United States is vested int one Supreme Court whereas the executive power is vested in the president. The Great Compromise ended up ending the #1 issue to solve, state representation. The great compromise is that in the Senate each state gets one vote, but in the House of Representatives the amount of votes each state gets is dependent on the states population. Federalism pretty much separates the powers given to the states, the powers given to the central government, and the powers given to both. One example of this is how one power only given to the states is to hold elections whereas one power that is only give. To the central government is the power to declare war. By: Katie Thomas
