September 1927Mao leads an ill fated attackand retreats to Jiangxi provice where he establishesthe Soviet Republic of China andis elected chairman of the small republic. 1934The Communists growing success and numbers begin to worry Chiangand he amasses nearly1 million government troopsto destroy them. 1934Mao is warned of the attack and convincesthe rest of the leadership that retreat is abetter tactic.
