Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Luke 1 and 2 Zechariah was a priest. Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth were righteous before the Lord. Until Zechariah was in the Temple at the altar of incense where the angel Gabriel came to him and told him the news. And the angel said,"Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, and he will go before him in the spirit and the power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared." But Zechariah did not believe the angel so he as silent until the child was born. Since Elizabeth was old in age she hid for at least 5 months. Later an angel came to her and told her that she would have a son. She was scared of the angel. But she would not just have any son because the Angel said that it would be the Son of God. Mary was a virgin she was to be betrothed to a man named Joseph. She was also righteous before the Lord. The Holy Spirit came to her and told her her son would be holy. She was very obedient and Mary had a cousin. Her cousins name was Elizabeth she was also carrying a child. When Elizabeth had her son after the eighth day they came to circumcise the child. They almost named him Zechariah but as the angel said they named him John. Which made Zechariah no longer mute. He could talk and he spoke blessing God. God is always present and he redeemed us by raising our Savior Jesus Christ. He spoke through the prophets and shows us mercy. We remember his covenant and delivering us from our enemies. John was a prophet. He would go before the Most High. He also prepared Gods way and the knowledge of salvation so that we are aware of our sins. John grew and became strong in the Holy Spirit. He also lived in the wilderness for a while. Joseph went to Bethlehem and he came from Nazareth. He is part of the line of David. Bethlehem means City of David. Beth means house and lethlem means bread. So it means House of bread. Jesus Christ is our bread of life.
