Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Cardiovascular Diseases The Silent Killers Cardiovascular diseases are diseases that are associated with blood vessels or the heart. The main four examples of these diseases are:Coronary Heart Disease, Stroke, Heart Failure and Heart Attack. In 2012, Coronary heart disease was the cause of 13% of all deaths in Australia, it kills 55 Australians each day (that's one death every 26 minutes!) and is the most common type of cardiovasculardisease in Australia. Each year around 55,000 people in Australia suffer a heart attack(one every ten minutes) and it kills 26 people each day. But in America, 600,000 people have a heart attack annually. This is a great statistic as it shows Australia is a MUCH healthier country, but we wont maintain it unless we eat well and stay active. Physical Activity is the Key to Sustaining a Healthy Heart Just by engaging in regular physical activity you can reduce the incidence and fatality of cardiovascular diseases by 50%. And for those with existing heart disease, physical activity can also reduce a fatal heart attack by 25%. The best way to keep a healthy heart is to keep it fit! Doing lots of exercises will keep blood flowing continuously around your body and make the heart muscle, (yes its a muscle) even stronger, AND because much more blood will be flowing faster than usual, arteries and veins will get flexible increasing your overall heart health. Exercises that start slow and become more vigorous over time are good because they challenge you while still making it worth your while for your health. Cardiovascular diseases are the Silent Killers.
