Her family the Franks, theVan Daan family, and aMr. Dussel band togetherin this time of panic. Anne and the rest of her familyand friends attempt to wait outthe war in a secret annex. Anne lives in a very compact living space,and must learn tolive modestly. Anne confides her thoughts into a diary she keepsthroughout the wo yearsshe lives in the annex. Peter Van Daan, a housemate of Anne grows fond of her, andthey confide greatly in eachother. Mr. Van Daan is spotted andthe secret annex is discoveredby Nazi's. Anne lives the last fewmonths of her life inthe Bergen-Belsenconcentration camp where she ultimately dies. "..finally I twist my heart round again, so that the bad is onthe outside and the good is on the inside and keep on trying to find a way of becoming what I would so ike to be, and what I could be, if... there weren't any other people living in the world."
