In this poster we are going to see different topics like the domestic uses of water, rainwater in the storm drainage systems where you are going to see information about atmospheric pollutants and lastly but not least the water in the dams where the water is treated from the rivers to your houses. Introduction: What do you, the trees, and a hamster have in common? Give up? You all need water. All living things must have water to survive, whether they get it from a water fountain, a rain cloud, or a little bottle attached to the side of a hamster cage. Without water, your body would stop working properly. Water makes up more than half of your body weight and a person can't survive for more than a few days without it. But we all need to care for water quality, if we don´t we would get dirty water and probably get sick. In this poster we are going to show you the importance of water in taking care of our actions and its quality. Development: Domestic water use is waterused for indoor and outdoor household purposes all thethings you do at home: drinking, preparing food, bathing, washing clothes and dishes, brushing your teeth, watering the yard and garden, and even washing the dog. Drainage water management is normally concerned with reducingthe amount of drainage water andwith managing its disposal, drainage is practiced to maintain aeration in waterlogged rootzone and/or to leach excess soil salinity to sustain agricultural production. thedisposal of drainage water into wetlands, lakes, rivers and coastalwaters entails considerations about the quantity and quality allowable and indeed sometimes required to maintain desirable ecologicalconditions and functions of that given water body. Domestic uses of water and its disposal to drainage Rainwater in the storm drainage systems.Major pollutants Atmospheric pollulants: Carbon monoxide (CO) gas emitted from combustion processes. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2)forms quickly from emissionsfrom cars, trucks and buses, power plants, and off-road equipment. Urban pollulants:Runoff water from buildings, streets and sidewalks carriesmany pollutants including sediment, nutrients, bacteriaoil, metals, chemicals, road salt, pet droppings and litter The water in dams . Pollulants in rivers and streams:Dirt: Bacteria: can smother fish and other animalsthat live in the water, mostof the dirt washing into lakesand streams comes fromexposed earth which containsplowed fields. not all the bacteria areharmful but germs and virusesthat can make you sick mightbe in the water. Nutrients: the most common nutrientsfound in the water arenitrogen and phosphorus andcause algae to grow and canturn the water green, themajor sources of nutrientsare runoff of fertilizersfrom farms and lawns, animalwaste, sewage treatment plants andseptic system. ADVICESFORTAKING CARETHE WATER Water treatments for domestic use: Sources that supply drinking water in the metropolitan area of Monterrey: Monterrey's metropolitan areahas a supply capacityof 12,500 liters per second, which comes from surface like:EL CUCHILLOCERRO PRIETOPRESA DE LA BOCASupplying the metropolitan area on 60% averageof drinking water. Coagulation: removes dirt andother particles suspendedin water.Sedimentation: the heavy particlesto the bottom and the clear watermove to filtrationFiltration: the water passes throughfilters, some made of layers of sand, gravel, and charcoal that helps remove even smallerparticles.Disinfection: a small amount ofchlorine is added or some other disinfection method is used to killany bacteria that may be in the waterStorage: water is placed in a closedtank or reservoir in order for disinfection to take place then flowsthrough pipes to homes and businesses in the community. Short term:When washing dishes by hand, dont let the water run. Fill one basin with wash water and the other with rinse waterDesignate one glass for your drinking water each day, or refill a water bottle. This will cut down on the number of glasses to washUse a broom instead of a hose to clean patios, sidewalks and driveways, and save water every timeTake 5-minute showers instead of baths. A full bathtub requires up to 70 gallons of waterTurn off the water while washing your hair and save up to 150 gallons Long term:At home or while staying in a hotel, reuse your towelsWashing only full loads of laundry can save an average household more than 3,400 gallons of water each yearIn spring or summer check your sprinkler system frequently and adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk or streetAsk your company, school or neighborhood to support water conservation events and educationCollecting rainwater for landscape use is great for the plants and can save you water and money double click to changethis text! THE CONSEQUENCES OF HUMAN ACTIVITY FOR ME IS NOTHING THAN GOOD, THEY ARE CLEANING THE WATER FOR US TO DRINK IT. SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR A PROPER MANAGEMENT OF DRINKING WATER WOULD BE TO VERIFY YOUR WATER IF IT IS CLEAN, CHECK COLOR AND TASTE, IF IT IS DIFFERENT, CALL TO YOUR WATER SUPPLIER IMMEDIATELY. I think there are a lot of ways we can save water. Water is very important for all of us so we have to take care of it. We can all start saving water by doing simple things each day and we can save a lot of water.I think that making this poster was to make us be conscious because the teenagers are the ones that are wasting the water and making the Earth have trouble. I think that was very difficult this poster but in the end was productive. My conclusion is that we need to take care of the water we are using because if we waste it we will not have enough to live. We will create many pollutants like the atmospheric and urban pollutants that will damage the planet. We need to think about it twice to use the water in a properly way.We need to take care of water because is so useful and helps us in many ways basically in our home we used with everything.Water is one of the most vital natural resources for all life on Earth. The availability and quality of water always have played an important part in determining not only where people can live, but also their quality of life. Team Reflection: We think that this was something to help us to have in mind that the water is an important source and that we need to be careful with the amount of water we are using, also, to talk with the persons that do not notice this problems.
