Within this passage it shows warrior culture and how a warrior is willing to do anything for adventure and boasting rights. Beowulf isn't asked to help. He thought since he is great that he should help these poor useless people. “He leaped into the lake, would not wait for anyone's answer; the heaving water covered him over.
