Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 OverweightVs.Obesity Physical educatio n LunchMeals Solution To be obese is to be considered 95-100 percentile Of people with same the sex and age To be considered overweight you must be in the 85-94 percentile of people with the same sex and age Child obesity is a serious problem to our youth, and the future of our nation. I believe that obesity is caused majorly by the school systems for lack of participation in physical activity and fattening/fake lunches. Lunch meals are still full of fat and saturated fat. A lunch meal of 730 calories is supposed to have no more than 24 grams of fat and 8 grams of saturated fat, but a USDA chuck roast and whole milk is 31 grams of fat and 14 grams of saturated fat. Obesity rates in children has doubled, and adolescence have tripled in obesity rates since 1980 Energy intake is one of the causes for obesity, but so is the decreasing amount of physical activity in our society and schools An article in the journal the "pediatrics" found out that 21% of teenagers in America participate in physical education class each week. I believe that the only way for us to reduce obesity is to actually make a change and give the schools lean meat and good vegetable. Additionally we need to make physical education mandatory in all schools Yeoman, Barry. "School Lunches Cause Childhood Obesity." Food. Ed. Laura K. Egendorf. Detroit: Greenhaven Press, 2006.
