Created with Fabric.js 1.4.5 Chapter 12 Topics By Kaira Baas Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642. He went to the University of Cambridge. He came up with the laws of motion, tides, the universal Law of Gravity, calculus, and many more. He died at the age of 84 in 1727. Isaac Newton Newtons 1st Law An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by and outside force. Inertia is the resistance of an object to change it's motion. Inertia will keep an object in a straight line with a constant velocity. Newtons 2nd Law The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object Weight Gravity can change weight because mass always stays the same. Universal Law of Gravity When two bodies in the universe attract each other. The more mass there is, the more the objects attracts. If the object is closer, it attracts more than if there was a farther distance. Tides and Moon phases Projectile Motion Horizontal component will make the projectile travel at a constant speed. A vertical component pulls the projectile down. Newtons 3rd Law For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Force pair Momentum Impulse is the change of momentum. An elastic collision is where things hit and bounce back.An inelastic collision is when two things hit and stay together.Conservation of momentum is where momentum is transfered.
