He was the son of an English school teacher/writerLeonard Huxley and of Julia Arnold. He had three brothers. Origionally Huxley was fascinated in Science until he obtained a disease that left him virtually blind, so he turned to his interest in literature. When he was only 14 his mother passed away and then in 1911 his brother killed himself. Soat a very young age Aldous was surroundedby many tragedies. Aldous Huxley not onlywrote the well known novel "A Brave NewWorld" but he also wrote many other Novels, short stories, poetry, travelogues and even some film scripts. In all of his work he wouldalways play the rold of a critical observer ofaccepted traditions, customs, and social ideals.He would be concerned about the potentially harmful effects of the "scientific process" to mankind. (With this he includes his interest inscience with his love of writings). He had a slight remission for his eyesight but all over itstayed poor for the rest of his life. If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. By the end of Huxleys life he was considered by many as avisionary thinker and one of the greatest Englishwriters. Having written 47 books, Huxley diedon the same day that J.F.K was assassinated, November 22 1963. He was only 69 years old. "Maybe this word is another Planets Hell."
