Industrialization led to immigration and urbanization, which opened up more jobs for women. However, they earned as little as 60% of what men made. Attitude towards working women became more favorable in East first. There were more job opportunities: agriculture, domestic service, manufacturing, clerical and office work, professional work. Known as Progressive Era, due to social & economic reform. National Women Suffrage Association (NWSA), used confrontational tactics, promoting womens voting illegally. American Women Suffrage Association (AWSA), encouraged the formation of woman suffrage associations at the state and local level. The National American Women Suffrage Association was formed as a merger of the two in 1890, led by Elizabeth CadyStanton and Susan B.Anthony. All along, the Populist Party supported woman suffrage. Social reform movements were created as a result of worsening living conditions due to the rise of big business and government corruption. This includes the creation of the Hull House, founded by Jane Addams. The Hull house provided adult education and counseling. Women's Rights Movement began through:religious revivals, reform movements (temperance), and moral reforms (Female Reform Society). These movements were created as a guidance and support for all women and young girls. Women were not valued and considered a part of society itself, due to "men supremacy." They were prohibited to participate in the same activities as men (politics, jobs, etc..), but through the years they were granted rights, suffrage, and freedom. However, the continuum of their inferiority still flourished for many more years.
