It was positive because it was it was a success in making alot of money and starts lotsof factories in Europe. Was used for many resources like bicycles,automobiles,shoes, shoe soles. Rubber was making the Europeans more money because of the location of raw material and the demand for it at the time. It was negative because Europeans had taken over African land and hadenslaved the people in order to produce rubber. They chopped their hands off if they did not compromise and did not feed them properly, exposed them to too much sun, disease. This had resulted in a total of 10 million deathsof the natives. Positiv e Positiv e Negativ e Negativ e Before Europeans had gotten their rubber from Africa, they used to get it from the Amazon and used to then bring it back to their factory and use machines that ran twenty four hours a day to make it. The problem had occurred when Europeans needed large amount of raw material in order to run and Europeans needed to find sources for all of these materials. Europeans kept on searching until they laid their target on Africa. Africa had many abundant resources and the Europeans also realized that if they were to sell rubber in Africa they can sell rubber for a bigger profit. This had led to the European countries gathering at the conference at Berlin or as know as the Scramble for Africa. The Scramble for Africa was in 1870-1900 due to European countries wanting a piece of land from Africa. In 1885 rulers of Europe came together in Berlin to decide who gets what part of Africa. Not a single African representative was at the meeting to decide what happened to Africa. . King Leopan made Africans collect Rubber which they had to do with the process called Rubber Tapping which was a very painful process. Rubber came from vines in the jungle located in the Congo's. African men would smear the rubber on their stomachs so they can collect more and it would dry and stick on their body's. It would cause painful pain to get in removed off and if they did not do something there hands were chopped off Once it was collected it was sent to a Factory in Belgium where it was turned into rubber. For factory and business owners eyes it was gold. The first factory that wanted rubber was in France, Paris. Rubber had made huge increase in profits as Europeans kept selling it. The Europeans sold the rubber for much more than they had paid for the original raw material . Rubber is what made Europeans rich and factories too. King Leopan had also used his money that he made from the Congo to makemany parks, racetracks, railway stations, museums. He also made a 17 acre palace for himself and built government houses as well. The Congo had faced the worst affect of the rubber boom. It had caused the deaths of 10 million natives,enslaved them,took over their land, and tortured them by cutting their hands offand putting them in a big basket. They had no freedom and were forced as machinesto do hard manual labour. The Africans had become fed up and wanted a way out. It was not until 1902 when a journalist had went to Africa and saw the horrific acts and wanted a investigation done.Once the British had sent someone to do an investigation and they found the harsh treatment and began removing Leopold from power. In 1960 Belgium declared the Congo an independent country. Before there was any sign of freedom King Leopold had killed lot of natives making the population to decrease by 10 million. King Leopan had also used his money that he made from the Congo to make many parks, racetracks, railway stations, museums. He also made a 17 acre palace for himself and built government houses as well.
